Leading Collaboration

Discussion #2

KEYWORDS: LO2, LO3, collaborative leadership, advocacy, inquiry

This discussion thread was focused on sharing an example of a negotiation that was handled with advocacy rather than inquiry. I shared a recent experience at work where I advocated for a proposal I put together rather than taking a step back and inquiring with the leadership team I was working with whether they wanted to even consider a proposal like the one I had prepared. Needless to say, it blew up in my face. This situation gave me a change to reflect on my approach and how I might do things differently in the future and allowed me to engage with my classmates who provided some great advice. This artifact is a great example of LO2 and LO3 because it represents a situation where I can utilize the abilities I have acquired through the MSC program to assess complex organizational environments and address challenges by leading collaboratively.
